I have added a few images from Chamonix, 2010 (near Mt. Blanc in France) and Rome in 2005. There might be more order in the future, but for now, I want to get a fair amount of pictures on my web site.
I have included this in the information...the images taken in 2005 come from my attempt at size-reduction. My Canon A 70 and a multitude of CF cards.
I will have a lot more to say about these, but for the time being, here are a few pictures. I have begun to craft a few words and a book of these images, much to the credit of Monica. In a nutshell, I began making images from a variety of places, and in spite of my reasons, I struggled with accepting the less than perfect negatives. But as of now, I have re-thought this. Perhaps there will be a lot more to say about WHY I made these images, but suffice it to say, I am very glad I have these pictures, and I have removed the restraints I placed on them. I have now, accepted the images as very good. Along with the words I have intended for these photographs, I am hoping much will make sense about these. I begin this voyage , but I want to share and understand a lot more about these images.
I have borrowed the title, or at least a variation on it from my mentor, Dan Powell at the University of Oregon.
I have added a few more paintings as I go along. I'm relatively sure that the folks at Weebly didn't know what they were in for as far as numbers! But I wanted to add as I went along. I have alerted folks to the particulars, but I will add captions 'in the future' with particulars about size and the like, and titles.
As I get "used to this" Blog/Journal, I continue to add several new pictures. It may be filled with images from my scans from negatives or paintings in general, but the website allows me to put several on here...and keep adding.
I hope to make sense of this "Journal/Blog" in the next few additions, but in the meantime, I have worked around and made friends with my images from roughly 1989 through 1995. All of these are scanned images from negatives, and some are 6x9cm, but the vast majority are from 4x5 inch negatives. The pictures themselves have a particular way of being seen, but through the years, I have been un-doely harsh toward those negatives because I expected so much out of them...but I think I have learned, and in spite of my intentions (which I will delve into more succinctly), I wanted to share the images at this point. It may be because of what I have been through (my stroke), but I thought the time was ready for sharing. So at this point, I will...and probably in book form. More images and words later. This image is from the far western end of the Bonneville Salt Flats, and was made nestling in between east and west bound Interstate 80. The image is looking east, and has a parentage from 4x5 inch negative. I haven't decided whether to include the white border. The image has gone through an electronic version of 'cross-process'
This was a painting that I made about ten or eleven years ago... it's number 357
(I remember that!) but I would have to look up the date... and it's Acrylic on Panel (24" x 48"). It was made during a time that my exploration took me in the realm of surfaces, and maybe some photographic input.
I still have this one, but it falls in the category of Not For Sale (NFS).
